According to the Lark News, The Prayer of Jabez has caused great harm to the house church in China. "Chinese Christians used to sacrifice everything for Christ. Now they only want God to bless them, says one Chinese Elder."
OK, the story is pure satire, it's fake, (that's why it's called Lark News), but I think it makes a point that is real.

And coming soon... The Left Behind Jabez series!
I actually had an interesting thought about Jabez the other day. I was at a Sunday morning service of a church I used to attend and as their custom they always had some sort of financial verse read before their offering. They had everyone stand up and read the "jabez" verse aloud.
As they did this i had an interesting thought... "Jabez only prayed that prayer once in the bible".
i think it's easy to get consumed by one aspect of God. I believe highly in the jabez prayer. i know sometimes God leads me in prayers asking for blessing. But just the same led me in prayers asking for a change of heart, prayers for others to be blessed, etc etc.
Maybe the real question is: God, what would you like me to pray about today?
